SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERSyou have been warned.----It was very hard to stay interested in reading this book when it condones abuse and rape. The main characters love interest, Stephan, basically abuses her throughout the book, making her see his way and insisting she “give in” and “let him take control” of her. He repeatedly grabs her, and other women, holds them up off the ground, aggressively throws them, etc.. He also insists that “he will have her” even if she says no. Isabelle repeatedly says leave, and he refuses until she relents to him. It’s disgusting. It’s not sexy. It didn’t make my heart flutter like Sera and Liam’s love story did, it made me want to vomit. Not only that, but any events beyond the “soul mates” story is quick and has no build up, especially the end at the battle scene. “They came at us, I ripped out his heart and it was done”. This book was very anticlimactic.

I really wanted to enjoy this book. I tried. The author is really on to something with her fresh spin on ideas, but she is falling flat. First of all, the book needs editing, badly. Self publishing aside, she could have at least had a grammar Nazi friend peruse thorough, cuz we all have one!The use of "too" in place of "to" annoyed me, as it wasn't just once or twice, it was excessive...but I kept going. And then there were the run on sentences, and the repetitive descriptions. " His eyes twinkled merrily", and " her eyes spit violet fury". Again, not once, but again and again. Then the word " fierce" was used non stop. Fiercely copious amounts, sometimes 3 times per page. A Thesaurus does fiercely amazing things!! :)But all of this didn't stop me, and I kept going, skipping pages, but trying. Which was hard as the story seemed rushed along, except for the monologues. And the sex scenes. Which fell short of steamy after the first one because, well, the rest were pretty much the same words used. Yet, still I tried. (and skimmed and skipped even more). But..the characters lacked. Issy was whiny, bratty, judgy, and not all that redeemable. She wants to avoid being mated at all costs, we get that, but there's NEVER an easy agreement with her. And then there is the controlling and almost abusive Stefan. Isabelle stomps her feet and throws a tantrum, and Stefan holds her down, and starts kissing her every time, until she gives in??!! Not romantic. And I can't wrap my mind on the idea that two people are so bonded that they're unable to spend time apart. Everyone needs their own life, don't they? It was all a little too over the top for me. There are soul mates, and then there are these two... I think Brenda Davies could be a great writer, and the out of the box ideas are there, she just needs to work out some kinks. However, I can't bring myself to finish this series. Maybe I'll come back to it in a few years, but for now I'm done.

I'll never get the time back that I wasted on this book.I read the first book in the series (Amazon freebie) and although the book was predictable, editing terrible, at least the characters were sweet. The second book is rape-y, terribly edited (frequent errors found, i.e. referring to the same character as "him" and "her" within the same sentence), and predictable. The same events occur over and over: little siblings get into the exact same trouble they were in a couple of chapters before (where are the parents?), main dude is mean to main dudette, main dudette fears for safety from main dude (so much for protecting the one you love).Characters are shallow, abusive, and unable to think for themselves.

I loved this story. Years after Sera and Liam were bonded and moved off with Mike, Doug, David and Jack with their two children... now, twenty plus years later and the fun is really starting.Their eldest son (Ethan)and daughter (Isabelle)are determined to not be like their parents. They want to avoid the whole 'soul mates' craze. One thing we should all know, you can't hide from destiny or fate. On a chance encounter at their homestead Isabelle meets eyes with Stefan a 200 year old vampire hottie. The world shifts and then all hell breaks loose. Isabelle, the sheltered, unknowledgeable virgin has her world turned on its tail and she fights it the whole damn way. The girl if so full of the unknown and fear that she loses herself (in my opinion) until Stefan makes her see what she needs. he does this by leaving her. When he comes back they both find out they are soul mates. They can't hide from it. Then his past comes back to slap him in the face. Love can overcome anything, right? hell yeah it can. They make it through the rough time. they talk it out, finally and the family all moves on. A new love blossoming into an eternity of happiness.

Started Destined bk#1of the Vampire Awakenings by Brenda K Davies, a couple weeks ago. And have not stopped reading the next 3 since. I downloaded what was available at the time which was 4 books. The 5th book n the series has just recently become available. I've already started #4. If u are into Vampire Paranormal and all the characters involved are continued thru out the whole series...then you will enjoy these books as I have. I love when I can run across a series of any kind that captures me and won't let go until I've gone as far as I can, and Brenda K Davies and her " Vamp Family " have done just that!

I fell in love with Sera and Liam in Awakened and was excited to see that their story is continuing through the lives of their grown children. Destined follows the first of their children to find their mate. As with Sera and Liam's story and courtship, nothing is easy and there are unexpected twists interspersed between steamy love scenes. Overall a very enjoyable, page-turning book.
