Nabil (Bill) E. Battikha, PE, has a BS in mechanical engineering with many decades of hands-on engineering experience in process control. He is the president of BergoTech Inc., a firm specializing in process control education at universities across North America. Over the course of his career, he has worked for suppliers of control equipment, consultants, and end users and developed experience mainly in engineering, management, and training. He has published three other books with ISA: The Management of Control Systems (1992), Developing Guidelines for Instrumentation & Control (1994), and Managing Industrial Controls (2014). He has participated in the creation of several ISA standards, has written numerous technical articles, and has co-authored apatent and a commercial software package.

I always thought of handbooks as 1000+ pages but hey, not anymore this one covers the most practical and commonly used approaches for measurements and control, together with some practical experience made it good enough to make it's way to my bookcase.
I was out from I&C for two years and needed quick reference to refresh me on the subject.This book exceeds my expectations. It is concise and informative.
For advanced kids: It is recomendable for all tecnitians an Ingenierin that worck with a calculatios for manufacturin and research.
I took the PE Control Systems exam in October 2018 and passed.My advice is that you definitely buy this book, and it should be the first book you read when you begin prepping for the exam. It does not have example problems and solutions. It does not provide many formulas. It does not dive deep into anything, really. It is just a good, all around summary of all you will need to know for the exam.I like that for the most part the author does get to the point rather quickly on a topic. Look, here are the type of instruments that can do this function. This kind is better for this, this other kind is better for that, and so on. This one is cheaper, this one is more expensive, more maintenance, maintenance free, and so on. It does not get bogged down by the math and science. Rather, its aim is to get you generally familiar and cover the most important aspects only. It turns out, a lot of the question on this test are like this If you need a to measure flow for this application, which of these four kinds is the cheapest. Only this book of all the books I brought with me could answer those questions. I probably answered ten questions on the exam from this book, which makes it a total must bring in my opinion.Absolutely buy this book and read it first if you want to pass the exam. After you pass, this is keeper. Its got tons of good information that will serve you down the road.
