This book was a good idea with cute drawings and written instructions including paint swatches for recommended colors to use. The pages are supposed to be "perforated" but are actually sewn in and don't have a true perforation for removal. It's supposed to be perforated so you can paint each drawing and remove the pages for framing. I'm not sure how many people would want to take the book apart but if you do, just know it's not a true perforation. And you loose the instruction sheets because they are on the back of the sketches.The "premium watercolor paper" that it's printed on is very much like student grade paper. The way the book is bound, one sketch will be on textured paper and the next sketch is on non-textured all the way through the book. This means half the sketch pages are like cold press and half are like hot press paper. The texture or lack of texture can make a difference in the outcome of your painting.

Art books are my little addiction, I send about half back because they are so bad. This book is great finally something I can appreciate.Animals, flowers and plants oh my! You can either sketch the pictures yourself or paint right in the book on the ready to paint sketch. The paper is 100lb watercolor paper. Dana is a great artist and keeps it simple. I was so sick of getting books that I can draw better than the artist some of the books have been remedial at best lately and cost more than this book. MHG

This book is amazing Dana gives you beautiful colors to use and details of how to watercolor the pics like a skunk or other animals and bugs, flowers, etc. the types of brushes, wether you are doing a wet on wet etc. Beautiful book and great details. Worth the price and such precious little drawings. Thank you.

I bought this because I liked the pictures and the artist's style. I hadn't realized this would be printed on watercolor paper for readers/students to practice techniques with the author's sketches. What a lovely format ... I couldn't help but dive right in. She tells you just what colors to use, how to mix them, and where to paint in step-by-step instruction. I'm usually one to think I can figure things out myself, but her tips are so helpful! I especially love how much I'm learning about painting fur, building up better layers, and when NOT to use my ink pen. :) I'd buy a whole series of these.

Today I received Watercolor with Me In The Forest book by Dana Fox! It is even better than I Imagined it would be! I really like the simple yet beautiful color palette. Each piece requires just a few watercolors, with very useful and easy to follow instructions. The illustrations are inspirational and well thought out. I will update my review and add photos after I've completed a few of the projects!As promised - here is my update! Updating to 5 stars! I am really enjoying this Forest themed watercolor book. Dana’s projects are uncomplicated and easy to follow. Some projects are easy and some give me the opportunity practice new techniques. For example: the fawn was a welcome challenge to practice painting fur. The beginning of the Painting Fur section provides easy to follow practice instructions before you begin painting one of the many forest animals. And there’s lots of other wonderful forest creatures in this section for you to continue practicing painting fur.

I love Dana Fox's watercolor videos...so when I saw she had a book coming out I pre-ordered it. The book was delivered today and it exceeded my expectations. Such good quality, simple sketches with very straightforward instructions. The book lays flat and the paper is good quality so I am looking forward to practicing my watercoloring. I haven't even started working in the book yet but wanted to post because it is such a treat to have a purchase exceed your expectations.

I love the texture of this book. It just feels good in your hands. The projects are delightful. I plan to re-draw them on my own watercolor paper which will enhance my drawing skills and leave the book intact. Well done!

The way that these are explored and sythesized are nothing short of brilliant. What is more, the story is engaging and makes for rich discussions. The work also serves as a beautiful bridge to help show the progress of ideas from Plato, Aristotle, and Augustine to that of Aquinas. I personally feel as if I got more from this little text than I did from studying many, many hundreds of pages of Avaroes, Avacenna, and Al Ghazali.

The medieval Arab book "Hayy ibn Yaqzan" is a long forgotten philosophical novel from the so-called "Golden Age" of Islamic Spain. It was written by the philosopher Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn Tufayl (known in the West as Abubacer), who served as an adviser and physician to the Spanish Almohad sultan. The story in his short novel seeks to reconcile the mystical philosophy of Avicenna (ibn Sina) and the philosophical mysticism of Abu Hamid al-Ghazali and the Sufis. It tells the tale of a child raised by animals on a remote and isolated island and his gradual recognition of philosophical and mystical truths as he passes through his life. The book is of interest not just because of its interesting philosophical and religious ideas, but because of the influence it would later have in Europe during the "Enlightenment". It has been suggested that assorted literary and philosophical figures from Daniel Defoe to John Locke were familiar with the book (which was translated into Latin, English, and other European languages) and borrowed from the ideas found in it.I would also add that Professor Goodman's introduction and footnotes are extensive and very informative. He places the book in its historical and intellectual context. The translation itself is clear and easy to read. For anyone interested in medieval Islamic philosophy or just an interesting and thought provoking read, this book is certainly worth the time.

Traditionally much importance is attached to Ibn Rushd (Averroes) and his commentaries on Aristotle. And yet brilliant as Ibn Rushd was, he was not a creative writer. And yet his teacher, Ibn Tufayl, was a fine novelist, and way ahead of his time. HAYY IBN YAQDHAN is definitely one of the most interesting books to have fallen into my hands during my life span.On the other hand, the canon of Spanish literature seen in the anthologies reflects sheer ignorance, or far worse, an agenda of distortion. Spanish literature did not begin with the jarchas and the Cantar del Mio Cid as we are led to believe. It began with brilliant and sofisticated works like HAYY IBN YAQDHAN, written not in Castillian, but in Arabic.The present translation into modern English is clear and most readable. The abundant notes and commmentaries included in the volume are for the most part quite valuable. Let us shed our thick skins of ethnocentricism and literary stupidity and turn to this true gem of Medieval Spanish literature (although much of it sounds more modern than medieval).

For a layperson with some interest in philosophy I stumbled across this book while going through Muslim Spain's history. An effective read requires some basic understanding of philosophy but it is beautifully written and very well referenced.

This book is great for anyone interested in natural philosophy (the Islamic tradition is also often neglected). Its well written and has a great and detailed introduction on many philosophical themes touched in the book. Would also recommend to any science fiction lovers, because beneath the philosophy is simply a great story!

He discovers desire, shame, jealousy, eagerness to possess and practical reasoning. With time and as his 'foster mother' gets old, he learns to love and realizes death as she passes away. I read a lot. A whole lot. This book is in my top 5 all time. Seriously. Unexpectedly. I intended to enjoy it, as I had heard from others that it was quite good. But I never intended to be floored by it. To have my faith shaken, stirred, and emboldened by it. To come out on the other side of it feeling the wave of freedom from performance wash over me. Not that we throw caution to the wind and "sin it up," but that we embrace our glaring imperfections because, when glorying in the One most deserving, it makes so much more of Christ. So, read it, and I hope it does for you what it has for me.

Thanks to a popular Christian blog I read, (written by Lore Ferguson Wilbert), I stumbled upon a review for this book, "The Imperfect Disciple." After reading the description, I decided to check the reviews on Amazon, and learn a little more about Jared C. Wilson. I was plesantly surprised by the rave reviews of the book, and proceeded to order a copy.The day I received the book in the mail, I read it voraciously from cover to cover.I would say that Jared Wilson is the voice of my generation - Generation X. He writes with vulnerability, and asks questions that touch at the pulse of the 30s and 40s crowd with authenticity. "How about a book on discipleship for the guy or gal sitting there in small group always wondering if it's safe to say what they are thinking? For the sake of the cut-ups, the screwups, the tired and the torn-up, the weary and the wounded--how about we demistify discipleship?" He has gotten to the heart of a generation that no longer wants to just give Sunday school answers at small group, and attend potlucks at church in the fellowship hall. He speaks to real, broken people, who have real problems, and genuinely desire growth in Christ in an authentic community of believers.We are all seeking to know and love Christ more. When we can genuinely aproach one another with our true broken selves, then we can all just be broken sinners before a gracious Heavenly Father and create real friendships/fellowship in Christ. And we can assure each other that there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. We should not be afraid to speak of our problems to others, and confess our sins to fellow believers, and seek out true discipleship and community.Thank you, Jared C. Wilson. As a sinful worm who follows Jesus, I was greatly encouraged by Jared's book on discipleship for the rest of us. This is not an average discipleship book, but it is certainly an insightful one. Once I finished reading, I immediately gave my copy away to a friend at church who needed encouragement. I highly recommend The Imperfect Disciple.

Jared C. Wilson is a really gifted writer. This book really reads like an actual book, rather than a typical "Discipleship Book", which can feel like a "workbook". There is much expression in the way he describes "our gospel," in the way that is broken so much in our lives. He contextualizes it all for us, giving us the perspectives that makes you think that this is how Jesus sees us. "Love," or "lurve," and "grace" is really well explained. I wish he could have given us a "better way" to say "grace," the way he did with "love," but I suppose I can do that for myself.This book will make you rethink what being a disciple of Christ means, and what it means for YOU. Having been exposed to his teachings in person, as well as through his many wonderful books, I feel totally safe in his theology. Not only do I feel safe, but feel INSPIRED through it all. His is a really an authentic, fresh, energetic, renewing, intelligent perspective, all clothed in deep love for God, His words, His Kingdom, and His people.I can't recommend this wonderful book enough...

For Christians who are intimidated by weighty books on sanctification, or wracked with guilt over their many tried and failed attempts at discipleship, or for whom the very word "discipleship" makes them roll their eyes or break out in hives, this is the book that could change their minds, and the trajectory of their spiritual life. Conversational in tone, subversively deep in content. Highly recommended.

The characters, all the characters, intrigue, fascinate and even disgust me in equal measure in their actions and the games they play. Even Madison, whom I probably have the most empathy for ~ at the moment anyways ~ isn’t necessarily someone I can say I truly like and yet I don’t not like her. And Bishop? I wouldn’t say I empathize with him, but I definitely want more of him.But that’s the crux here isn’t it? You can’t help but continue to turn the pages because all the secrecy is driving you Bec and you NEED to know what will happen next and after that ending I am definitely happy that I don’t have to wait for the next book, because yours truly may have been just upset enough to have tossed the Kindle into the freezer.The Broken Puppet***5 ‘Trust No One. Fear No One. &@$* Everyone’ Stars***While the mind @&€£ is still in full effect (Anyone surprised?? No, didn’t think so.) I have to say that this one was a little more...even keel for me. We’re definitely about to be partying up rave style, but before we touch a tinsy bit on that I have to say this one gave me the FEELS. It did. I didn’t think it could, but it did. It was also all kinds of dark, smexy, dirty and violent and I devoured it!While I’ve loved the first two books, I’ve admittedly been a bit...tepid in my feelings towards Madison and Bishop. It’s not that I haven’t liked them, it’s more that I needed more from them. With all the secrets and games it felt like I never got them, that they were in a void so to speak and couldn’t become more. But that has changed. This book showed me exactly who Bishop is and dear lord, I kinda adore him. And with Madi, I saw the woman she can evolve into. And their romance, while it will also be chaotic and explosive, finally settled and I really like how they keep each other on their toes and ground in a weird way.As for the rest of the Kings, I simply want more of all of them. With the whole ‘cone of silence’ eliminated, we finally get some time with each of them and getting to see their personalities start to come out was a lot of fun. Nate, of the Kings, is still my favorite, but I’m kinda loving Brantley and Jace too. And Tatum, I love her and this girl NEEDS an HEA. She just does.This book definitely exposes the world of the Elite Kings and I loved learning all about it. Is it crazy and over the top? Yes. Yes it is. But that’s what makes it so much fun to read. There are definitely a bunch of twists I didn’t see coming, like a ton of them, and all I can say is that I really need that next book like yesterday...but will do my best to be as patient as possible.

Since chapter no1 I was sure that I'll come back for much, much more to mrs Jones. From one page to another I was diving deeply in twisted and so dark story... I just could put it down. Amo Jones seduced my dark side of heart, I didn't read this series.... I just devorued them like totally junkie on bookish high.All 3 books are definetly must have & must read status. This storyline was great. I could see exactly where it all wanted to go. Unfortunately the details were too confusing to keep up with. One minute someone was dying and the next they are running carrying someone. One minute a place is 5 hours away the next its a short drive. Huge chunks of time went by supposedly without any acknowledgement. I truly thought these books covered 3-4 months at most due to the scenes written but then it was December to June without ever knowing it. If you can let go of the chaotic details and off timeline then you might enjoy this wild sexy ride.

Amo Jones, what an exceptional read! First I have to say, I don't buy books off of Amazon, because I I have Kindle Unlimited. However, I would purchase these three books again.I am in a group of hard core readers (we are a group of people who would rather read than watch TV). Now that said, I asked if these books were satanic. The answer which Came back to my question was, no. So, I decided to purchase and check out the excitement which was flying around my new reading group about these books.First off, I laughed and cried at certain points and scenes in these books. The story is about Madison who looses her mom and moves into her dad's home along with a step mom and step brother. The step mom is loving and exactly what Madison needs. The step brother is a jokester and always in a good mood unless provoked. Then in walks Bishop, Bishop is the leader to a group of teenager's who have seen and lived life as men!Madison also has an instant connection with two female friend's (Madison has never had a true friend she can rely on and tell deepest feelings to).All I can say is...get these book. I can't wait until the next book releases next month!

If I could give this no stars, I would. For so many people to have liked this book, I thought .99 cents was a great buy. It wasn't. The inconsistencies and mark of time was horrible. I felt like a kid wrote this book. Save yourself some time by not buying this book. Get a sample before you get pulled into this headache!

I really, really recommend this book as the first book that you pick up for those interested in beginning a spiritual journey through the study of Wicca. This is a path that I have been wanting to explore since I was a pre-teenager, but I never did because I was so overwhelmed by the sheer abundance of literature to choose from. I ordered this book solely because it was inexpensive and seemed to cover a wide range of topics, and I am so, so happy that I did. It's a short book, which made it immediately appealing because I live a very fast-paced life and I wanted something that I could read in bed at the end of my day. She does give a thorough overview of Wicca as a whole, and it's in simple terms free of jargon. It's not at all intimidating and very easy to follow. Honestly, the way that she writes is very conversational; it feels like you're sitting down with her over a cup of coffee and she's very gently and patiently talking with you about something that she dearly loves. She isn't pushy or offensive, she never gives the impression that anyone who doesn't practice Wicca is "wrong", and she's inclusive of so many different ways to practice the religion in her writing. While she doesn't tell you "everything" that you need to know, she lays a solid foundation for further study, and gives a great list of suggestions for further reading and exploration. Definitely recommend, definitely will purchase the rest of her books. So, bottom line, if you want to explore Wicca and you're not sure where to start, this is the book you've been looking for.

This is a great book for someone who just wants to know what Wicca is. I'm going to have my 12 year old read it who is very interested in history and wicca, so she can understand that this religion is not like it is portrayed in the movies. There's no goblins, or bringing people back to life. But for a real beginner this book is just way to vague. Again, great book and unbiased as an overview to Wicca, but if you want something that goes more into depth, and how to really do stuff, this is just not the book for you. I walked away with so many questions that just wasn't answered in this book. The spell in the back (1 spell) can only be done in autumn, and again, very vague. For a beginner it would need to tell someone how to make a circle step by step, how to call out the elements step by step, etc. it just just doesn't TEACH.

I'll preface this review by saying that I am new to the craft, in fact in my first year, which is why I chose this book. Perhaps others who have more experience or have a longer history within the craft will have a much different perspective of the information within this book.This volume covers a great deal of the Wicca ideology and practice within a short body of work, so while it does give the reader a good foundation, it does not delve too deeply into the issues or subject matter. The author does a wonderful job of explaining the concrete aspects, such as the "Known History", and the "Wheel of the Year: Sabats and Esbats" and their significance in section One, and the "Hermetic Principals", and "Tools" and their symbolic reference in section Two. She includes a great quick-reference-guide at the end for colors, crystals & gemstones, and essential oils as well as a listing of suggestions for further reading, which is very helpful.It's a good place to start. She has published other works, which delve more deeply into specific topics such as Tarot, Candle Magic, Crystal Magic, & Elemental Magic so this book becomes almost a preface to those other works.She writes exceptionally well and explains some complex concepts in an clear and understandable way with simple, "everyday" examples. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and am planning to read her other published works.The only issue I had with the book was her explanation of the more abstract facets such as "What is Wicca?", "The Difference Between a Witch and a Wiccan", "The Difference Between Wicca and Witchcraft", "What Do Wiccans Believe". She was so careful to be unbiased and give an overall summary of the topics and to include the various beliefs of many practitioners that at the end of that section of the book, I didn't have an understanding of the topics she covered. In all fairness, that could be just the nature of the craft and someone who is just beginning their journey of discovery.

As someone who has been searching for themselves spiritually as a pagan for sometime this book has opened a door to a world that I had initially been leery of due to prior bad experiences when asking people in person. I found Lisa's book wonderful and comprehensive and am now excitedly taking my first step towards practicing. I have even thanks to this book found some Wicca, who recognizing the book, have been excited to help me and shown me good authors and references in addition to what is found within these pages.The book is small but, affordable for the price and the wealth of information is both comprehensive and in-depth without being overly heavy and difficult to read. I feel that is was worth the price and have purchased additional books from Lisa Chamberlain. It is a must for anyone who is unsure of were to start and have little in the way of authentic information and resources.

So, I've been interested in Wicca for many years, but never really felt that it was a good fit for me. However, revisiting this religion, I have found that I am more and more drawn to it. I purchased this book to reintroduce myself to the religion, as well as to educate myself. I have learned so much and have realized that Wicca is something that I would like to practice. It's about energy and intuition. Wicca is beautiful and I am honored to have been chosen to be involved with it.Blessed be.

As a Christian I bought the book simply to understand what Wicca is and isn't. At least now I can have an intelligent conversation with someone who believes this way. It is helpful to know where someone else is coming from.
