Tess Miller, a bodyguard by profession, is on a much needed vacation in her uncle's remote Arizona cabin when a strange man comes knocking on her door. Is he friend or foe? What is he doing on in the middle of nowhere? And perhaps most importantly, why was he shot and left for dead?Daley is a veteran of the inspirational romance genre, and Deadly Hunt is exactly what you'd expect from an author of such experience. It is a book that is decidedly Christian in nature. No cussing, no sex, no overt violence, etc. I would be comfortable in letting my tween-age daughter read it.I loved the depth she gives to her characters. Their backstories make the interesting and people you can care about. It just feels like she cuts off their continued development as believers too soon.Tess comes from a very difficult childhood that is still impacting her relationships with men even after becoming a Christian. I would have loved to have seen the developed even further. The struggle she faces is one I'm sure others have faced and would benefit from discovering how she handles.I would also have loved to have had the tension surrounding the main male character's situation drawn out a bit more. It seemed rather abrupt in the end. However, that said, I do understand that this was a novella and not a full-length novel.Deadly Hunt will hold your attention to the very end. It makes a delightful afternoon of light reading.
A great story.I thoroughly enjoyed the story, especially up to the last section. The characters were interesting, the mystery was well done. Then the reveal: who was after the corporate owner.After that the book went to the HEA. First the 3 month leap to a new scene. How did the girl's thought & feelings change toward her father? There was no description or a couple paragraphs about the letter. What did the girl's conclusion about her father look like? I think it was an edit error that mentioned a letter to Shane & forgiveness. Then the girl gets an abrupt call from her dad.Then Shane knocks on a door. What jobs had she taken? What was Shane doing during that time, since his inner thoughts were shown up until the ending. Did his daughter know about the girl?A few more explanatory paragraphs or pages would have helped the ending flow better.
Death Hunt, by Margaret DaleyHave so many books to read. This is another great story. I love suspense I believe the most. The young lady, Tess, a bodyguard, finally gets to take a vacation in her Uncle’s Cabin on the mountain out in the wilderness. She hardly has time to get unpacked when later that evening she heard a heavy bang against the cabin door. Pulling her gun, hearing a then scratching at the door, she slowly goes to the door to open it when . . . . Will not share anymore, but trust me, this is quite a story full of danger, adventurous, ending with some romance of course. I did love the ending. You won’t be sorry reading Death Hunt.
A rather short but intense story. It was unclear who was trying to murder Shane until the very end. Tessa being a bodyguard was the logical choice to keep him safe.I didn't like Tess very much. She kept making excuses to herself. She seemed so brave but was a total wimp when it came to facing her own feelings and where they could lead with Shane.
All of Margaret Daleys'books ' are excellent, well written and entertaining. The characters are well defined and believable.The STRONG WOMEN series is a case in point. I have read several of the books and am working my way through the entire series. A wonderful and relaxing way to spend a dayI would recommend Margarets books to all who enjoy mysteries with romance tossed in.
5 starsI purchased Deadly Hunt by Margaret Daley and this review was given freely.A clean and suspenseful drama that is both action packed and a complete sweet romance. Tech company owner Shane by chance falls into the mountain cabin where bodyguard Tess is vacationing. This novel is complex has a good balance between action, intrigue, attraction, and Christian faith.
Lacking and predictable, since I’ve read or listened to this author on four other novels I was surprised i couldn’t wait for this audion to end. Lacked character development and storyline. Strong women storyline is not Ms Daley forte. She did a much better job with strong male hero. Perhaps I just don’t like strong woman storyline.
This story has well defined characters and a good story. There is a side story that is only partially resolved...but, maybe that was meant to be because not all can be resolved in life. Faith and conflict are handled well without overstatement of either. Good job.
