I picked up this book when I was goaltending to see if there was anything in there that could help me out. There were a few basic fundamentals, but most of it was geared towards getting children interested in playing the goaltender position. There was less focus on drills and more focus on showcasing the accomplishments of Patrick Roy, Dominik Hasek, Ed Belfour, and Chris Osgood (among many others.)Recommended largely for collectors, but could also be useful to show kids the history of the goaltending position.

It's not a very indepth book. If you just want some goaltending highlights go for it, but if you are serious about learning more choose something else.

Although I am not very familiar with the 'Hockey The NHL Way' series, this book is a great buy! Many of the pictues in the book are not only of NHL goaltenders, but of young players in the minor and 'pee wee' type leagues. It is written in very simple language, so it's not a difficult read for younger players. Although those of us a little older may find it a tad simplistic, the advice is pretty much what you'll find in any other 300 page book on goaltending, only it's something you can whip through in about 20 minutes. Practical as a quick-reference type thing for those of us older folks who are just getting into the game (if the kiddie pictures don't damage your ego too much, that is!).Loaded with full color photos and practical advice on how to play well, play fair, and be prepared; it also offers more technically oriented information like the strengths and weaknesses of both the stand-up and butterfly styles of goaltending, as well as the proper way to take care of equipment.Other things about this book I found to be noteworthy:- the entire book is written in a format that is not gender specific, and although all the pictures are of young boys or NHL players, there is a quote by Danielle Dube; goaltender of the Canadian Women's National Hockey Team. I have yet to find anything in most of the other books I've purchased that includes any input from female players, or is non-gender specific ... a great book for female goaltenders!- there is some pretty amazing advice on the less technical and physiological elemets of goaltending, like how to be prepared and how to maintain a good level of concentration, as well as team work and good sportsmanship.- there is a strong emphasis on non-violent competition.- the book includes some very basic stretches and exercises for young goaltenders.All in all this book is valuable for just about anyone who is still learning about the wonderful world of netminding. Most definately a great buy for hockey moms and dads as well, since it's a quick read that will help you undrestand what your child needs as a young goaltender, and what s/he needs to work on to improve. The good majority of the book is full colour photos, but it's cheap and the advice is practical. A pretty good investment by my standards!

This book is mainly geared towards kids, but is extremely helpful to a beginning goalie of any age. The full-color pictures and advice from NHL goalies are applicable no matter how old you are. The equipment section is not very in-depth (neither is most of the book), but it is an inexpensive way to get a solid overview of the goaltending position.

I learned a lot from this book when I was learning goaltending in middle school, however the position has changed a lot in the last decade+. New equipment materials, designs, and rules have made "stand up" goaltending obsolete and has transformed the "butterfly" into the "pro-fly" technique, which had not yet emerged at the time of this book, but is now the standard technique. That said, the book still has value in teaching the very basics to young goalies, but as always one week at a hockey camp will teach 10x more than any book.

Very expensive book. It leaves out really really important steps. For example, following the instructions to the letter for changing out a power steering pump, I ruined a pump. The last step after simply reversing the removal steps is to check for leaks. Which I did. Nothing about bleeding the lines. So I checked for leaks, all looked good. Started the car up. The pump worked great for about 5 seconds before the noise came and the pump was toast. You can't leave off steps. People who buy these books are typically weekend warriors, not full time mechanics. It's garbage. Nothing about screw head sizes. It could say "Use a 14mm socket to remove the three screws..." but they opted not to. So you've got to keep testing sockets until you find the right one. And sometimes it's not easy to reach the screwhead in the first place, so that's really handy info to have. They left no corner uncut in the creation of this garbage manual.

Diagrams seem pretty good for wiring and some of the breakdown, but overall a bit too brief and general. Much of what it presents you would figure out just by looking at the item under repair. I would still recommend this for the price and the general schematics.

Great manual. Recommend this product.

Subaru has been growing in leaps and bounds, yet they neglected to come out with a manual for many years. It lacks some important details bit is a jump off point.

Does the trick for basic planning and site seeing. The maps and directions are weak for anything outside the strict city centers of Melaka and Penang even though the book makes several references to sites outside those areas. There should be some more information there. The book fortunately provides some basic bus info for Penang, but should go a step further in supporting the main routes with some simple maps, as the local authority doesn't get the job done in that department. Bottom line is that you should find a way to purchase more detailed maps with broader scope for Penang especially and mark it up with bus and other info before departing.

I much prefer Fodor's or Frommer's guides, but couldn't find them for KL. This book is unfortunately not organized well by neighborhood. That means you need to look at where you are on a master map, find the neighborhood map, look for listings, then flip to the overall "Restaurants" listing to find the one that is close to you (for instance). Also, the attractions are not organized alphabetically so it's a hunting expedition every time you look for one. Keep a supply of post-it flags handy so you can easily find those 3 locations in the book.

Ebooks have certainly come a long way. Really well put together and hyperlinked to vital and informative information. Reading it on a droid tablet is a bit of a surprise, colorful and clever.

This book helped me travel successfully throughout Kuala Lumpur. The recommendations were spot on! I would highly recommend it for travelers who are headed to Malaysia.

Of course the Lonely Planet is the bible for south-east Asia, but reading it on Kindle is a nightmare. I hope others are different, but I basically found it useless given the maps are unreadable (full map is tiny and reading a map in eight different segments is not helpful). Flicking back and forth on the basic Kindle wastes a ton of time. So save yourself the trouble and buy the real book! I had to. It was driving me nuts.

Very detailed and proved valuable for our trip to Penang.

The guide is ok for the three cities, but is no matc h for the print edition of Malaysia & Singapore. Navigation & search are also very rudimentary. It was alway easier to find what you were looking for in the printed book (this is probably a fetire of the. Kindle-format rather than this particular book).

The book itself is good, however it did not really work as a Kindle, the maps are not visible and it is not great to navigate

Somehow, I found myself on a mission to read every thru hike story available for Kindle. I've one-clicked my way across a couple of months reading a book or two per week. Overall, I'd say that I usually like every book on some level, and I think I've only not finished one purchase. I owe lots of people reviews and I intend to get to them all! Except the one that sucked. I'll just let it suck.This book, however, out of like the twenty or so I've read, is easily top three. If Bryson is the standard for AT books, Gary Sizer is breathing down his neck. For me, a trail story has to be more than a trail journal. The list of what the hikers did that day is great, but I'm always looking for the human side of the story. Characters. Strengths. Weaknesses. Introspect. Sizer does a good job with all of these things. His descriptions are nice, too.IMO, this book should have many more reviews. Sizer is in a group with Bryson, Fozzie, and Carrot Quinn, my reigning trail favorites.

Because I love the Appalachian Trail, I read lots of books by the thru-hikers. Most are about the same with a day by day rehash of their adventure. Where's The Next Shelter starts off very similar, but soon there is a group of people who stick together - although not all the time - they were strangers at first, but became a family. Gary doesn't list everyone he meets, doesn't do a day to day recap, skips unimportant days and shelters. He is honest when describing his injuries, joys and the low points. It is an easy read and was very enjoyable.

I read a lot of books; first hand accounts of epic hikes primarily dealing with the Big 3. At my age and with my health issues my long hiking days are far behind me but I must say that I enjoy my armchair adventures with the men and women still active in this wonderful pastime.Of the books I have read, i.e. those dealing with the Appalachian Trail, this one, ‘Where’s the Next Shelter’ has to rank right up there with the top three or five. Gary Sizer got it right! And not only did he get it right, he has the ability to articulate his journey via the written word; folks, for a non-professional writer, this guy is good and has a wonderful grasp of the English language and the written word.Unlike many such tales I have read there is no beating of the chest, putting down every other hiker he runs across, an over abundance of whining or (As I recently read in one account) the record of a middle age guy goggling twenty year old girls. How refreshing. Sizer tells us like it is – the good, the bad and the ugly and does it with dignity and an acute sense of humor. He is comfortable with himself and comfortable with those around him no matter how diverse these companions and such may be. To be frank, he is the sort of person I would love to hike with – or would have back in my days.Throughout the boo the author is quite good at conveying the pain involved in this 2,000 plus mile journey and he is also quite good at describing the many wonderful experiences he had and how he was able to endure and keep enduring when many would simply throw their hands up and head for home.If you are contemplating giving this hike a shot; or one of the other major trails, I most certainly would recommend you read this one in preparation for that trip. This book gives insights that not many others give and is a valuable resource even though it is NOT a ‘how to do it book.’ When I say ‘insight’ I not only mean physical but also mental and social.I was rather sad and upset when this book ended and beyond a doubt will give it yet another read on down the line a bit.I highly recommend this one!

As far as trail books go, this one was pretty good. Entertaining and well-written. Also well-narrated by the author himself (I did the audiobook).After reading a half-dozen AT memoirs they all start to sound the same, so it takes a fresh perspective and/or narration style to keep me engaged. Ultimately the story line is always familiar, though: the idea, the preparation, the excitement, the new friends, the trials and tribulations, the almost-quit moments, then the gritty climax to the triumphant finish on Mount Katadin.Not to trivialize that endeavor at all, it's just become a saturated book genre.Overall Sizer did a great job. I'd like to see more work from him.

I've read several books about hiking the Appalachian Trail and the Pacific Crest Trail, but this is by far the best. Gary Sizer, or "Green Giant" as he is known on the AT, tells the story of his thru-hike from Atlanta to Katahdin Mountain in Maine in this at times laugh-out-loud funny, other times suspenseful and poignant memoir. Reading it takes you into a world where the rising sun and birdsong wake you in the morning and sunset is the hiker's bedtime. Gary's descriptions are so vivid it is easy to imagine that you are hiking along with him. Every time I dipped into Where's the Next Shelter?, it felt like a mini-vacation from the world of cars and electronics and noise. And the people he meets along the way are absolutely fascinating. Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy (or download it to your ereader). You deserve a vacation but if you can't get away, Gary will take you for a mini-vacation - in your mind.

I enjoyed reading this book. I used to be a voracious reader, sometimes reading 2-3 books a week. Ever since I've gotten a smart phone my book reading has fallen to maybe 2 books per year! It's like I no longer have the patience to read entire books for pleasure.I came across this book by Gary Sizer while I was reading an AMA (ask me anything) on Reddit. His AMA was so interesting that I told myself I would read a chapter on Amazon to better understand his talk. Well, I loved the book from start to finish. Couldn't put it down. Which was surprising to me as I have zero interest in hiking or the AT or even the outdoors. He's funny, informative, thoroughly honest with the ickier parts of his hike and speaks so that everyone can understand a hiker's lifestyle.This is an entertaining read and I'd like to thank Gary for writing it and for his talks on Reddit.

Oh Boy!! The skeletons are rapidly falling out of the closet, and there’s no one around to catch them.Miki’s secret has finally been revealed. Her past that she tried to get away from has found it’s way to her doorstep. What is Malik going to do if he ever finds out is the question.Monika has lost her mind behind Jaidion. He gave her too much information, and now she’s going to use it against him. She’s doing things that could get her six feet under. She should be worried about someone finding out what she has done.I need to know what happened to Big Ken and who was behind it.

Jaidon was a straight dog. However he only did what Monika allowed. Monika went through all types of drama dealing with Jaidon and his trifling ways. She was tired and was ready for some payback. He should have known. You don't screw over a woman who knows all of your dirty secrets. Malik seems to act older than his childish brother and was also more responsible. Miki was secretive and didn't allow people to get to close to her. The way this ended let me know just how trifling she is and why she was hiding from her past. I can't wait for part two.

Monika is a mess!!! She really did her daughter dirty😡😡. Jaidon has a whole team of kids he knows he can’t just leave Monika she knows to much. He tried it 😳😯😜. Malik (Bae) is everything❤️😍 Miki needs I hope Jaidon & Monika’s shenanigans don’t sabotage what these two are trying to build. Ms Grad Marie you did the d$&n thing sis looking forward to part 2.

Unfortunately I learned by purchasing this that I am not a fan of the black page coloring.....

My only issue with this book is that the pages are not perforated. If you are looking for a book that is easy to take apart, this is not the one for you!

Bought this for my girlfriend, she is in the hospital with a broken leg. She loves it! She says its distracted her from being stuck in a hospital bed and provides a much needed break inbetween her netflix binges. This book helps her relax, she says she loves the designs and cant wait to get another coloring book. 10/10

They were as expected.

This is great adult coloring book. I can't wait to start in coloring it. I have just started this "stress relief" hobby, but I am enjoying it very much. It is a great way to get away from it all and this book is no exception. I would recommend it to anyone. There are garden designs, mandalas, animals and paisley patterns. This book is a little different as the background part of the pages is black, where the other books I have the background part of the pages is white. The backside of the pages is also black. The pages are made of a nice heavy quality paper, which will be nice for when I uses markers or pens that might tend to bleed. This book has a nice variety of designs where a lot of books tend to have one theme and all the pages follow that theme. You do not have that with this book. There are 30 pages to color, but also right inside the front cover there is a page you can color that looks just like the cover of the coloring book.
