I really like the pop up peekaboo books, but this is one of the weaker ones. This might sound silly, but the others have more words and more diversity in the pop up flaps. Not just "peekaboo there he is" under every one. My son still likes it, but prefers the farm and tractor ones.

I hate giving this book a 3-star review. My son loves it. We bought it after he read it at a friend's house; that night when I asked him what he wanted to read, he kept saying "puppies! puppies!" I think it's a good book too. But it's 5 pages long and on our first use, one of the dog's heads popped off. My son lost his mind; you'd think I murdered that dog right in front of him. Being who I am I couldn't get to sleep that night until I ran out and found a copy in a brick-and-mortar store. Amazon is, as always, pleasantly accepting the return without question. It doesn't happen often but I do appreciate them when something like this happens. Three stars because I don't know what to say about the whole experience. I would honestly recommend the book, but check first and make sure one of your dogs (playful puppy seems to be the weakest) hasn't been decapitated.

I don't always pay attention to the ages of the books when buying for my toddler. A book is a book! Granted, I mostly buy board books these days because paper pages get ripped. This is a board book with flaps--perfect! The dogs that pop out from behind the flaps are a little on the delicate side--they're made up of individual pieces to show the dogs moving. It's adorable.But if you have a small child who excitedly grabs and sometimes accidentally damages things in the process, this might not be the book for you. My kid nearly ripped the heads off of all of the dogs. So, we've put the book away until he has a better grasp of motor skills and "gentle."A great book for a toddler on the older side (preschool age + as described!).

If you have a little he or she will luv this vibrant almost cuddly pop-up book. Both my 20month and 5yr old luv turning the pages and listening to the descriptions on each page. It isn't a continuous story line; just each page has a blip about the pop-up you will discover then it comes together at the end where all the pop-ups are one page.

This is my daughter's favorite book. She's 9 months but this book has been #1 for at least a month now. We read it daily! The pop up items are high quality and sturdy. She ripped off one puppy's tail but we just taped it back on! Otherwise pretty baby-proof (obviously read with supervision!) I bought a few more in the series for birthday and Christmas presents for her and relatives!

The pop ups are so fun and bring a huge smile to my 1 year old's face, but I feel torn b/c I'm constantly trying to keep her from destroying it. I don't like the idea of having to keep her away from her books, so I think we'll stick to less fragile books in the future!

I love these DK Peekaboo books. I intend to have every single one on my granddaughters book shelf. They are so cute, and well made, I expect them to stand up to eager tiny hands at story time.

I'm putting the same review for each of these books that I bought. These books are sturdy because the cover and pages are made of heavy cardboard. Each time you turn a page you are presented with a flap that, when lifted, reveals a surprise. The stories are simple and I can see a child interested in reading, learning to read simple words.

The writing is exceptional and slowly, as I got really into the book, I discovered that the subject was one in which I, as I am sure many others do, have a very difficult time reading. The author has woven her own story about having been molested as a child, by a family member, alongside a true crime story that she researched as a young law student, about a man, who was a pedophile, involved in a murder.The two stories are so intense, that although, both hard to read, I became engrossed in the reactions of her family as well as the town’s, to this criminal, his family’s as well as the length that the trials went on, and on.The book is beyond a memoir. It combines true crime, with the author’s imagined scenarios of what went on in various courtroom settings during the trials and how she follows this man’s crime as well as the victim to understand what was done to her, and ultimately to free herself of her haunting past.It is brave, scary, revealing, and a look into a world that you would otherwise not know. I commend her for her diligence, for confronting her family, for writing this book, for having the courage to explore such a difficult subject that must have been painful with every single piece of research that she did and every single word that she wrote. This book will leave you thinking about hard issues about our legal system, mental health treatment, the death penalty, and familial responsibility.To read about other people’s situations that you might otherwise never know, despite their outward appearance, their present success, is eye-opening. To know what they have overcome and how they have done so, is remarkable.

First, I'm disturbed by so many bad reviews of this book, reviews that are clearly based in a lack of understanding of genre. This book is NOT A TRUE CRIME book. Period. If you're looking for that, don't buy it or read it. So many people talk about how it doesn't move quickly, or how do the two stories connect (they do, for thoughtful readers, and the writer makes that so evident that I can only assume some reviewers either didn't really read the book carefully or simply ignored the clear connections the author is making. Her entire point here is that through exploring the horrible death of a boy, she learns to explore her own trauma.) I have no interest in "true crime" myself, which has, to me, always felt ugly and voyeuristic: people reading about other people's pain for entertainment. Other people might feel quite differently about it, but that's my take. This book does explore an only tangentially connected case, a murder case that author first encountered as a law intern. The case is a way for her to explore her own trauma and history, and she does both exceptionally well.What she does well: this is probably one of the best representations of PTSD and the effects of childhood trauma from sexual abuse that I've ever read. It is so well done, in fact, that I had to put it down several times, so content warnings for those who have survived similar trauma: this book is very difficult to read at times. That said, reading through it, sometimes tense in my chair, I started to understand my own reactions, even the reactions I was having as I read it. I think others who have suffered trauma, especially sexual abuse as a child, will find much of value in this book, even as it is difficult. Also, I did not want to have sympathy for the murderer in this book. As the author clearly states, neither did she. She wanted him to die. I did too. And yet, she manages to do something I certainly could not: she explores his life in obsessive detail and she presents a complex picture of a man who did horrible horrible things. And yet, she makes him human. She tries, also to do this with her grandfather, and I think it is clear that part of the book is about exploring what it means to be a person who could do this sort of thing to a child. She has no answers for us. There are no answers. But her strength and tenacity in trying to unravel why these things happen is amazing.Yes, the book is quite detailed, thoughtful, working often on a metaphoric level. It is a literary book. A memoir. It means to do that. There were times I wondered at the sheer level of detail, but as a reader and writer I also appreciated it: the writer was also quite clear on when she was imagining things (such as putting the killer's mother in a housedress of the style her own grandmother wore), and when she took information from sources she had seen. Other than the level of detail, which sometimes even put me off, and I generally like it, I have no complaints: this book was intelligently written, carefully and beautifully structured, and in the end, terribly human. I am in awe of this writer who could manage to stick with this investigation into the life of a man that most of us don't want to think of at all--a convicted pedophile and child killer. But here's the thing: if we stay silent (as some reviews have suggested), then other children get hurt. If we stay silent, we never have a hope of understanding how someone comes to do these terrible things, and without understanding that, how can we ever stop it? Certainly what we are doing now is not working--children are abused every day. Some of us have the strength and courage to eventually tell our own stories. And some, like this amazing author, have the courage to tell both her own story and the story of an abuser (welll, two in her case). I applaud her, and difficult as this book was for me to read--and it was--I feel I am further along on my journey of dealing with childhood sexual abuse from reading this book.Thank you to the author. You have really done something amazing with this book.

This book is stunning, shocking, beautifully written, and raises very difficult, very important questions about how to, as a victim and as a society in general, deal with the perpetrators of child abuse. They committed a horrible crime and at the same time are also - sometimes beloved - family members to someone, and often victims of crime themselves. There is no easy answer, but one way the law and afflicted families move on is by telling a story that emphasizes some aspects and neglects others. The book unravels the unfolding and the stark, painful consequences of this process by going back and forth through time and enmeshing two stories, one autobiographical, one based on a true crime case in Louisiana. I could not put down the book. The author has an amazing way of making the moment viscerally tangible, visible, even smellable, yet, through a writing style that seamlessly switches between acute immersion in the scene to a reflective and predictive "fly-over" perspective, connects each moment to its past and future at the same time.

Fascinating and elegantly written book. The author drives her story of child abuse and pedophilia from the perspective of both her personal experience with her uncle and the famous, true case of the murder of a child in Louisiana by Ricky Langley. Ms. Marzano-Lesnevich skilled writing as she moves between the 2 stories is never jarring and the kaleidoscope of pain that she uncovers is incredibly brave as she confronts her own abuse as a child. Her approach to the case of Langley is from her perspective as a lawyer on one hand and the sensitivity as a victim on he other.In some circles much as been made of the authors embellishment of the narrative. Ms. Marzano-Lesnevich has filled in, to some extent, the Langley case story where there was no court records but she has done so with great care and complete transparency so I did not find this problematic in the context of this book and the story she was telling. The unique perspective and artfulness she brings to the story as both attorney and victim is so compelling as to make these issues seem slight in comparison.

I always thought of handbooks as 1000+ pages but hey, not anymore this one covers the most practical and commonly used approaches for measurements and control, together with some practical experience made it good enough to make it's way to my bookcase.

I was out from I&C for two years and needed quick reference to refresh me on the subject.This book exceeds my expectations. It is concise and informative.

For advanced kids: It is recomendable for all tecnitians an Ingenierin that worck with a calculatios for manufacturin and research.

I took the PE Control Systems exam in October 2018 and passed.My advice is that you definitely buy this book, and it should be the first book you read when you begin prepping for the exam. It does not have example problems and solutions. It does not provide many formulas. It does not dive deep into anything, really. It is just a good, all around summary of all you will need to know for the exam.I like that for the most part the author does get to the point rather quickly on a topic. Look, here are the type of instruments that can do this function. This kind is better for this, this other kind is better for that, and so on. This one is cheaper, this one is more expensive, more maintenance, maintenance free, and so on. It does not get bogged down by the math and science. Rather, its aim is to get you generally familiar and cover the most important aspects only. It turns out, a lot of the question on this test are like this If you need a to measure flow for this application, which of these four kinds is the cheapest. Only this book of all the books I brought with me could answer those questions. I probably answered ten questions on the exam from this book, which makes it a total must bring in my opinion.Absolutely buy this book and read it first if you want to pass the exam. After you pass, this is keeper. Its got tons of good information that will serve you down the road.

More controversial is Chua’s stereotyping of Chinese and Western cultures, not to mention her authoritarian parenting methods. Critics judged the book largely by asking the following questions: Should self-esteem come before accomplishment, or accomplishment before self-esteem? If the latter, should it be achieved by threats and constant monitoring? Chua’s teenage daughters are undeniably accomplished, but at what emotional cost? While some reviewers found that Chua’s technique borders on abuse and her writing was, at best, self-serving, others were impressed by her parenting results and opined that the West could learn a few things from this remarkably driven Chinese American mother.

As the daughter of a fierce Tiger Mother, I avoided this book for the longest time. This book was bittersweet for me. At moments it was hard to read, the stories mirroring my own experiences, albeit too close for comfort. I felt I would be doing a disservice to Amy Chua if I didn't complete this book, so I stuck with her.Resist the negative reviews out there, a lot of people judge this book before completing it. This is a story of a woman raising her children with her best intentions. Her method worked for one daughter and it didn't for the other. Writing this book took bravery and self awareness. She didn't have to share her story, but I'm so glad she did.

I'm a Japanese American mom of two children. I really enjoyed her book! I read the negative reviews and wonder if those people really read her book. Numerous times the author states about her self doubt on how she was raising her daughters and how she questioned her methods.I'm one of those parents that has always praised my children in whatever they do and I didn't want to criticize them for fear of hurting their feelings or ruining their self esteem but Mrs Chua's book helped me to realize that is okay to sometimes demand excellence from your children! And that sometimes they need to be called out when they are not trying their best. Do I think the author is the perfect parent? Of course not, no one has all the answers but we can still learn from each other.

This book plays into every asian stereotype. The author was clearly a spoiled brat who thought she had a strict childhood. Chua’s assumptions are way off on certain theories she has.

This is an interesting, if skewed perspective, on high performance parenting. Admittedly, most children, if left to their own devices, would prefer becoming entitled couch potatoes, however, helicopter parenting is no guarantee of a child future success. Tiger parenting may work in a culture that provides a comparable context for all members of a child's social network, such as the far east, but social outlets in the United States diffuse impact by providing incongruous frames of perspective. It is likely that an intelligent child will engage with peers, to compare filial obligations, and grow to resent Tiger parenting. Hard work and a good education indeed improve the probability that a child will enjoy a higher income than the average American, however, the marginal improvement is not tantamount to success if hard work and more education do not improve the child's quality of life, self-concept, and life satisfaction. In essence, know thy children before imposing tiger parenting upon them.

I bought this book on the recommendation from a friend and after reading a few chapters, and I already had enough.I cannot get pass this woman's own complexes which were brought on by hre Chinese parentage. She studied only what she thought would please her parents, majors which require route memorization and gurantee excellent grades if you study hard enough. She failed in the corporate world and thinking that she is as gifted and adequate for the same job her husband, fails miserably at the interview realizing that she cannot hold her as high of a level of conversation as her husband's colleagues.Then, having failed to achieve as high success as she thought that she would, she decides to write about her experience parenting her kids, the Chinese style way. After of course, in overachieving Chinese student fashion, admitting that others have beat her to writing about Chinese culture, such as Amy Tang.Her descriptions of family's journey and parenting style are interesting. It seems to me that her and another extremely-scucessfull Chinese-American parents can owe their success to the laziness and brivery of American parenting. Contrasting what she considers such parenting success. This is the norm in Asia.If you like to read books to analyze people's personal inefficacies and psychological shortcomings, then buy this book. If you want to read a real talented writer's book, then spend your money on books like the Joy Luck Club instead.

So I can see now y’all just gonna be real disrespectful this series. Y’all done took the whole book and shot a torpedo through it.! I’m so upset because ain’t nobody safe. Ya’ll so petty. I’m bout ready to unfriend all y’all behinds. The messed up thing is I still want more. Like who does that. This book was outstanding. Got my nerves all bad. Scared to read the rest of the series but. I have to know how everything plays out!

Getting that money and power in the ATL is more than the Rock Boyz bargain for. There are turns in here that's hard to believe. No one can be trusted because the Cartel has eyes and ears everywhere. The ending left me speechless and I pray all goes well in Part 2. I rated this story five stars because these four authors always keep the reader wanting more. No exceptions here! Great job ladies!!

Very good book loving this series but i need the next part i feel like i just need to know what happened next. My girl drea and aunt Shirley gotta survive. Stasia need to get it together she created that problem and can’t blame no one else you tried to play games and it backfired. Lexi i love her she a lil firecracker and i can’t wait for the baby to come. I just need the drama to die down and get back to the family life. Lyssa just need to drop and maybe just live life for her and her baby.

This was a 10 starz page turning banger. I know y'all better get Aunt Shirley, Drea and Moni right in the next book.

I can NOT get enough of the Holiday sisters and Rock Boyz... I think I love the Boyz more now cause my girls is on one. Especially Stasia. She is tripping tripping... But Drea and Lexi the real deal. It's so much going on I can't wait to start the next part!!!

This was one heck of a ride. Just when you thought everything was peaches and cream it turned into vinegar. Go on this wild ride with my favorite sisters, you won't be disappointed. You did the thing ladies.

I do not know where to start. The guys are catching it from all angles. Corey needs his butt kicked. The Holiday Sisters and Aunt Shirley are still a hot mess. I hope the second book is out quick.

I can't wait for it.. please let Drea and aunt Shirley be ok. I need the answers. Another great book . This is above 5 stars
